One of the things that audiences love most about Winnie the Pooh is his simplistic style.   Disney returns with a Winnie the Pooh feature film that is has a hand drawn and like the classic  Winnie the Pooh animations that have appeared on the Disney Network years ago.  If you can remember the animation of Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day then you will know how the new Winnie the Pooh movie looks.

    The new Winnie the Pooh movie is set to be released in theaters this summer.  Disney has released a trailer of the movie and leaving Winnie the Pooh fans anxiously awaiting the 2011 release of the movie.  Disney has gone back to Winnie the Pooh that we fell in love with and cannot get enough of.

Lt. Harry Coleburn and Winnipeg the BearWe usually think that Winnie the Pooh originated in England, but that is only partly true. Winnie the Pooh was party inspired by a Canadian Black Bear that live at the London Zoo from 1915 to 1934. The black bear named Winnipeg (Winnie for short) was brought to the zoo by Lt. Harry Coleburn, who was in part of a Canadian cavalry regiment that went to fight in World War I in Europe. A.A.Milne and his son would visit the London Zoo and See the Winnie there. In 2005 the movie A Bear Named Winnie was released that told the true store of Winnipeg.

We all love Winnie the Pooh  and 74 years ago today the world get a to hear the collect of his tales with the publishing of the book Winnie-the-PoohWinnie-the-Pooh was written by A.A.Milne and includes many tales of Winnie the Pooh with his friends Piglet, Eeyore, Kanga, Roo, Rabbit, and Owl.   We do not get to meet the bouncy Tigger until the book The House on Pooh Corner.

Winnie the Pooh Stamp Issued for Royal Mail

The Royal Mail has issued several stamps that have the image of Winnie the Pooh.   Winnie the Pooh has English roots where he was first written about by A.A.Milne for his son Christopher Robin Milne.    The United Kingdom has always had a beautiful love affair with Winnie the Pooh.  Historical places mentioned in the Winnie the Pooh books receive thousands of visitors each year.  Poohsticks Bridge is even getting more renovations to handle the huge influx of tourists that it receives throughout the year.  Winnie the Pooh’s popularity continues to be high and the stamps of Winnie the Pooh is an example of the enormous fan base that Winnie the Pooh has throughout the United Kingdom and world.

Improvements Planned for Bridge in Winnie the Pooh Story

Poohsticks Bridge will soon be undergoing improvements to help it handle heavy amount of tourists that travel to the area each year.  Originally called Posingford Bridge, it was the place where Winnie the Pooh played Poohsticks in the book The House on Pooh Corner.  That game was also played by the author, A.A. Milne and his son Christopher Robin Milne.  Each year tourists come to see this bridge and play their own game of Poohsticks.  According to article by BBC News, the bridge gets over 35,000 visitors each year.

Tinker Bell Joins Winnie the Pooh on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Many different figures have their name on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles, California.    Usually the stars go to the real life individuals but there are exceptions to the rule.  There have been characters that have had their stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.  This Tuesday Tinker Bell had her star placed on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.   She joins fellow Disney character Winnie the Pooh on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.  Pooh had his star placed on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on April 1, 2006.

Winnie the Pooh Hooded Jackets Among Those Recalled by CPSC

clip_image002There is a recall of hooded jackets that have been sold by Burlington Coat Factory stores. The Consumer Product Safety Commission(CPSC) has a list of the jackets that were sold from 1995 to 2009. Included in that list is a Winnie the Pooh drawstring jacket. Consumers are asked to  remove the drawstring completely or go to the store where they purchased the jacket  for a refund.

Round Winnie the Pooh Cake with Tigger, Piglet, and Eeyore Too

This is video of a Winnie the Pooh cake with Pooh, Piglet, Tigger and Eeyore on top.   The figure of Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, and Piglet were all look to be hand sculpted.   This may provide a little design inspiration for any cake makers.

Winnie the Pooh Reaping Benefits of Antioxidants in Honey

honeypotWhen most of us see Winnie the Pooh eating honey we think that he is just a greedy little bear. But with the revelation of the health benefits of honey, but now the theory needs to be revaluated. Maybe that bear of “little brain” has a fantastically astute brain. All these years Pooh has been reaping the rewards of having a diet rich in antioxidants. Researchers discovered some years back that honey contains a lot of antioxidants.

According to the US National Library of Medicine:

Antioxidants are substances that may protect your cells against the effects of free radicals. Free radicals are molecules produced when your body breaks down food, or by environmental exposures like tobacco smoke and radiation. Free radicals can damage cells, and may play a role in heart disease, cancer and other diseases.

Honey is not the only place to find antioxidants. But it one of the tasty ways for a bear named Winnie the Pooh.
