A.A. Milne was born January 18, 1882. His legacy and name lives on because of the adorable and hugely entertaining Pooh Bear that he created for his son’s enjoyment. Milne was born in London, England and his creation of Winnie the Pooh has stretched across the globe. Pooh, and the many characters from the Hundred Acre woods have been etched into the hearts of generations of kids and adults. Milne published several books including Winnie-the-Pooh and The House on Pooh Corner.

You can still catch an exhibit of many different Christmas trees at the Museum of Arts and Science in Macon, Georgia. Each of the Christmas trees has a different theme. One of the trees has a Winnie the Pooh theme with included various Winnie the Pooh Christmas ornaments and Winnie the Pooh toys. The exhibit continues until January 3, 2010.

Who doesn’t love having a little bit of Winnie the Pooh. Now there is a new Winnie the Pooh Valentine’s Day special edition DVD being released early next year.
Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has announced a new Winnie the Pooh: A Valentine For You special edition DVD scheduled for release on January 5, 2010. The DVD will contain three new Winnie the Pooh stories, a DVD game, and Winnie the Pooh Valentine’s Day cards in the packaging. Suggested retail price is $29.99

The estate of Stephen Slessinger, who had licensing rights of Winnie the Pooh, has sued the Disney company over unpaid. Two previous lawsuits the by Slessinger estate have been thrown out of court. Slessinger family members allege that Disney has hidden some of the profits that they have obtained from Winnie the Pooh merchandise. Disney has denied those claims.

Return to the Hundred Acre Wood
Dutton Children’s Books, an imprint of Penguin Young Readers Group, revealed the much-anticipated cover and first chapter including art of Return to the Hundred Acre Wood, the first authorized sequel to A.A. Milne’s Winnie-the-Pooh and The House At Pooh Corner in more than 80 years.
Written by David Benedictus and illustrated by Mark Burgess, Return to the Hundred Acre Wood continues the adventures of Christopher Robin, Winnie-the-Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, Eeyore and friends. Egmont Publishing will publish the book simultaneously in the UK. Penguin Audio will publish an audio version of the book read by Grammy Award-winner Jim Dale. The book has an announced first printing of 300,000.
Disney has done many different stories of Winnie the Pooh and his friends and shown them on television and in the movies, but this is first authorized sequel to the story first told by A.A. Milne. A.A.Milne originally told these stories to his young son and then later they were adapted to book form.

Reports are that a new movie is in the works for Winnie the Pooh. This is movie is set to be released in theaters in 2011. The movie is going to be handdrawn, which is reall cool. I really enjoyed all of the digital animations but seeing hand drawn cartoons are more special than ever.

Following on the heels of the successful sale of a rare Winnie-the-Pooh drawing in its London salesrooms, international auctioneers Bonhams will offer collectors another chance to take home original depictions of Pooh at their New York City sale of Books and Manuscripts, set to take place on December 15, 2008.
Winnie the Pooh is such a timeless creature that there is no wonder that others are willing to pay to have a piece of his history. The classic Winnie the Pooh image is so beautiful. Although I do like the new version of Winnie the Pooh that Disney created, Classic Winnie the Pooh just seems to always catch my eye.

One source, NowMagazine, says that singer and actress Ashley Simpson had a Winnie the Pooh themed baby shower. That is an excellent choice in, in my honest opinion. Ashlee Simpson is the younger sister of Jessica Simpson. Ashlee and her husband Pete Wentz, a member of the Fallout Boy band are expecting their first child in late November.
